POLISHING

Your cars paint faces some of harshest tortures in nature. It literally is battered with every element you can think of. Over time and depending on the level of care given from the begining your cars paint will start to show signs of abuse. Most all of these signs are noticeable with the naked eye and sometimes magnified in the sunshine. These signs can include scratches, swirl marks,  spider webbing, paint oxidation, holograms, scuffs, bird droppings that were not cleaned up in time and have etched into the paint, or even damage that was instilled by a previous detailer through poor technique or poor system management, or even self car washes or automatic car washes being the most popular cause of damage. whatever the causes are the goal is the same to get the paints condition back to 90% or better. paint work is evaluated to determine the level of damage and also to create a plan of action. depending on the level of damage determines the number of steps it will take to correct the damage. All paint work will be washed and clayed, beyond that typically it may take a one, two or a  three step polish to reach the desired goals.  This process can be time consuming and extremely difficult for seriously abused paint but the return will be thousands more when it comes to resale value, or trade in value or if you are an enthusiast who simply loves perfect paint. Our maintenance plans are the perfect solution to keep future detail cost low and to keep your cars paint in like new condition.

polishing process

the wash

The first step in the decontamination process is the wash. Depending on the serverity of the paint and how dirty the surface is we will evaluate what wash method to use. It might be a pretreatment spray, a foam canon, waterless wash, pressure wash, or a traditional two bucket wash method or even a combination of these. The goal is still the same. to decontaminate and remove the large lose dirt particles first So we can proceed to the next step.

clay bar

The second step in the decontamination process is claying the paint. This process is used to remove embedded contaminates that did not get removed at the wash stage. The use of clay is exactly that, rubbing the paint surface with clay grabs and traps all the particles that are stuck or embedded inside the paint leaving the surface smooth as glass.

polishing

The final step in this process is the machine polishing stage. The goal here is to use compounds and polishes to refine the paint surface to remove defects in the paint such as swirl marks, scratches, holograms, scuffs, oxidation etc. Depending on the severity of the defects and how neglected the paint work is will determine what process to start with and how many steps it will take to achieve the desired result or level of correction.
